Hailee Ryan, Therapist Trainee
Hello! I am Hailee Ryan, and I am currently training to become a professional clinical counselor. Creativity has always been a big part of my life; I love expressing myself through painting and making jewelry in my free time. Staying active is another passion of mine, and I’ve found joy and mindfulness in playing beach volleyball and going on hikes with friends.
My decision to pursue a career in counseling was greatly influenced by my early experiences. Growing up, I witnessed the significant gap in mental health resources available, which, combined with my own personal experiences with therapy, inspired me to become a counselor. This awareness motivated me to contribute to the field and help others find the support they need.
I earned my BA in Psychology and Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Sociology, and I am now pursuing my Master’s in Counseling at Concordia University Irvine. As I continue my training, I am exploring various specialties that have sparked my interst throughout my education. These include working with children, sports psychology, and art therapy.
As a student counseling trainee, I am practicing under the direct supervision of my site supervisor and my university supervisor, who are Licensed Clinical Counselors. I have the education and life experience; my supervisors are there to provide me with additional accountability and insight to help guide me through the process as I start my career.
My goal as a future counselor, especially when working with children, is to provide a nurturing and safe space where they can express themselves freely and feel valued. I am passionate about helping children develop emotional resilience, self-confidence, and coping skills through creative and play-based approaches. By meeting children at their level and understanding their unique perspectives, I aim to empower them to navigate challenges, foster positive relationships, and grow into healthy, well-adjusted individuals.
